O outro lado da rua

Regina, a lonely 65-year-old who works on the neighbourhood watch for the police in Copacabana, believes that she has witnessed a murder in the building across the street, finally getting involved with the suspect in a potentially dangerous chain of events that will force her to take stock of her life in a way that she could never have imagined.

Marcos Bernstein
Rio de Janeiro, 1970. Graduate in Law, he started off in cinema in 1992 as an assistant director and producer at Walter Salles’ production company, subsequently setting himself up as a screenwriter. In recent years, he has collaborated on the scripts of numerous documentaries and movies, including Terra estrangeira (Foreign Land, 1995), shown at San Sebastian in the Zabaltegi section, and Central do Brasil (Central Station, 1998), both by Walter Salles. He has moreover written and directed the documentary A era dos campeoes with Cesario Mello Franco, about Brazilian car racing champions. O outro lado da rua is his first feature film.
